Instructions
- In a small bowl, mix warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture and olive oil. Mix until a sticky dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Grease a baking sheet or pan with olive oil. Transfer the dough and press it evenly into the pan.
- Cover and let the dough rise again for 20-30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
- Decorate the top of the dough with sliced vegetables and herbs to create patterns or images.
- Drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle with flaky sea salt if desired.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown. Let cool slightly before slicing and serving.
