- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 cup orzo pasta
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1/2 tsp dried oregano
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add diced onion and sauté for 2-3 minutes until translucent.
- Add minced garlic and cook for another 30 seconds.
- Add ground beef to the skillet and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon.
- Stir in the orzo and cook for 1-2 minutes to toast slightly.
- Pour in beef broth and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to a simmer, cover, and cook for 10-12 minutes until orzo is tender and liquid is mostly absorbed.
- Stir in heavy cream, Parmesan cheese, oregano, salt, and pepper. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until creamy and heated through.
- Remove from heat and let sit for a couple of minutes to thicken.
- Garnish with chopped parsley before serving.
Notes
- You can substitute ground turkey or chicken for a leaner option.
- Add a handful of spinach or peas for extra veggies.
- Use half-and-half instead of heavy cream for a lighter version.
