Ingredients
Scale
Base Ingredients
- 2 (15-ounce) cans whole kernel corn, drained
- 1 (15-ounce) can creamed corn
- 1 (8-ounce) package cream cheese, softened and cubed
- ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon onion powder
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
Toppings and Garnish
- ½ cup crushed buttery crackers or breadcrumbs (optional topping)
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F to ensure it’s at the perfect temperature for baking the casserole evenly.
- Mix Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the drained whole kernel corn, creamed corn, softened and cubed cream cheese, melted butter, shredded cheddar cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper. Stir until the mixture is well blended and creamy.
- Prepare Baking Dish: Grease a 9×9-inch or 2-quart baking dish to prevent sticking. Transfer the corn mixture into it and use a spatula to smooth out the top evenly.
- Add Topping: If using, sprinkle the crushed buttery crackers or breadcrumbs evenly over the top of the casserole for a crunchy texture when baked.
- Bake: Place the dish uncovered in the oven and bake for 35 to 40 minutes or until the casserole is hot, bubbly, and the top is lightly golden brown.
- Cool and Garnish: Remove from the oven and let the casserole cool for about 5 minutes. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley if desired before serving.
Notes
- For extra flavor, add ½ cup cooked and crumbled bacon or chopped green chiles into the mixture before baking.
- This casserole can be prepared ahead of time and refrigerated before baking; if baking chilled, add an additional 5 to 10 minutes to the cook time.
