Ingredients
Scale
Cinnamon Roll Base
- 2 cans (8-count each) refrigerated cinnamon rolls with icing
- Nonstick cooking spray
Cream Cheese Layer
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon butter, melted
Apple Filling
- 2 cans (21 oz each) apple pie filling
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- ½ teaspoon ground nutmeg
Instructions
- Prepare Baking Dish: Preheat your oven to 350°F (177°C) and spray a 9×13-inch baking dish with nonstick cooking spray to prevent sticking.
- Form Cinnamon Roll Base: Open the cinnamon rolls and set the icing aside for later. Flatten each cinnamon roll slightly using your hands or a rolling pin. Press half of the flattened rolls into the bottom of the prepared baking dish, pinching the edges together to create an even crust layer.
- Make Cream Cheese Layer: In a mixing bowl, beat together the softened cream cheese, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, all-purpose flour, and melted butter until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
- Layer Cream Cheese: Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the cinnamon roll crust in the baking dish, creating a smooth layer.
- Prepare Apple Filling: In a separate bowl, combine the apple pie filling with ground cinnamon and ground nutmeg. Mix well to evenly incorporate the spices.
- Add Apple Layer: Spoon the spiced apple filling evenly over the cream cheese layer.
- Top with Remaining Cinnamon Rolls: Flatten the remaining cinnamon rolls and arrange them over the apple filling, covering as much of the surface as possible.
- Bake: Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 35 to 40 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the center is cooked through.
- Cool and Add Icing: Remove the lasagna from the oven and let it cool for at least 15 minutes. Drizzle the reserved cinnamon roll icing over the top before slicing.
- Serve: Slice into squares and serve warm for best flavor and texture.
Notes
- For added texture, you can stir in chopped walnuts or pecans into the apple pie filling before layering.
- Homemade apple pie filling can be substituted for canned filling if preferred.
- This dessert is delicious when served warm alongside a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
