Description
Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, churros are a beloved Spanish treat often served with a chocolate dipping sauce or simply rolled in cinnamon sugar.

- 1 cup water
- 2 1/2 tablespoons sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 quarts oil for frying
- 1/2 cup sugar, or to taste
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Instructions
- In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine water, 2 1/2 tablespoons sugar, salt, and 2 tablespoons vegetable oil. Bring to a boil and remove from heat.
- Stir in flour until mixture forms a ball.
- Heat oil for frying in a deep-fryer or deep skillet to 375°F (190°C).
- Transfer dough to a piping bag fitted with a large star tip. Pipe strips of dough into hot oil and fry until golden; drain on paper towels.
- Combine 1/2 cup sugar and cinnamon in a shallow dish. Roll drained churros in the sugar mixture.
- Serve warm with optional chocolate sauce.
Notes
- Use a star tip to get the classic ridged churro shape.
- Fry in batches to avoid overcrowding the pan.
- Churros are best enjoyed fresh and warm.
- Add a chocolate or caramel dip for extra indulgence.
