Description

This Chocolate Strawberry Bouquet is a stunning and delicious arrangement perfect for gifting or celebrating special occasions. Fresh strawberries are dipped twice in melted vegan dark chocolate, then drizzled with additional chocolate for an elegant finish. The strawberries are then artfully arranged into a bouquet wrapped in paper to create a delightful edible gift or centerpiece.

Ingredients

Scale

Ingredients

  • 18-25 fresh strawberries
  • 250 g vegan dark chocolate (or vegan chocolate of choice)
  • Bamboo skewers (one per strawberry)
  • Crepe paper, baking paper, or wrapping paper (for assembling bouquet)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Strawberries: Wash the strawberries thoroughly to remove any dirt or grit. Place them on a clean towel or kitchen roll and blot to remove all excess moisture. Ensuring the strawberries are completely dry is essential for the chocolate to adhere properly.
  2. Insert Skewers: Gently insert a bamboo skewer into the center of each strawberry to allow easy dipping and handling.
  3. Set up the Stand: Create a stand to hold the dipped strawberries upright. You can use a piece of styrofoam or position a wire cooling rack over a large bowl to hold the skewers steady while the chocolate sets.
  4. Melt the Chocolate: Finely chop the chocolate. Melt two-thirds of the chocolate gently over a double boiler, stirring frequently. Remove from heat and stir in the remaining third of chopped chocolate to temper the mixture. Transfer the melted chocolate to a tall jar for easy dipping.
  5. First Chocolate Coating: Dip each skewered strawberry into the melted chocolate, allowing excess chocolate to drip back into the jar before placing the strawberry upright on the stand. Let the chocolate set completely before proceeding.
  6. Second Chocolate Coating: Repeat the dipping process to apply a second layer of chocolate to each strawberry for a thicker, more uniform coat. Allow to set again fully.
  7. Chocolate Drizzle: Transfer remaining chocolate into a piping bag with a small cut tip. Drizzle additional chocolate decoratively over some of the coated strawberries. Allow them to dry and set completely.
  8. Assemble the Bouquet: Lay your sheets of crepe paper, baking paper, or wrapping paper flat. Arrange the chocolate-coated strawberries on top, grouping the skewers together. Secure the skewers tightly with a rubber band and wrap the paper around the stems to cover them. Place the wrapped bouquet into a tall jar or vase for presentation.

Notes

  • Ensure strawberries are completely dry before dipping to prevent chocolate from seizing.
  • Temper chocolate properly for a shiny finish and to avoid blooming.
  • The bouquet can be made a few hours in advance but is best enjoyed the same day for freshness.
  • Use vegan chocolate for a dairy-free and vegan-friendly treat.
  • Styrofoam or wire racks are ideal holders for letting the chocolate set without distortion.
  • Store bouquet in a cool place to prevent chocolate melting, but avoid refrigeration to maintain strawberry texture.
