Description

These Chocolate Rice Krispie Treats are a delicious twist on the classic recipe, combining gooey marshmallows and crispy rice cereal with rich chocolate for an easy no-bake dessert.


Ingredients

  • 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal
  • 10 oz (1 bag) mini marshmallows
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (melted)
  • 1/2 cup mini chocolate chips (optional for topping)
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Grease a 9×13 inch pan with butter or non-stick spray and set aside.
  2. In a large saucepan, melt the butter over low heat.
  3. Add the mini marshmallows and salt, stirring continuously until completely melted and smooth.
  4. Stir in the vanilla extract and melted semi-sweet chocolate until well combined.
  5. Remove from heat and quickly mix in the Rice Krispies cereal until evenly coated.
  6. Transfer the mixture into the prepared pan and press it down evenly using a buttered spatula or wax paper.
  7. If desired, sprinkle mini chocolate chips on top and gently press them in.
  8. Let cool completely at room temperature before cutting into squares and serving.

Notes

  • Use fresh marshmallows for best results — stale ones don’t melt as well.
  • You can add peanut butter or Nutella to the mix for extra flavor.
  • Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
