Ingredients
Scale
Chicken
- 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken breasts, thinly sliced
Vegetables
- 1 small head of cabbage, thinly sliced
- 1 large carrot, julienned
- 1 bell pepper, thinly sliced
- 3 green onions, chopped (for garnish)
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
Sauces and Oils
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil (for cooking)
Spices and Other
- 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
- Salt, to taste
- Black pepper, to taste
- 1 tablespoon sesame seeds (for garnish)
Instructions
- Prepare Ingredients: Slice the chicken breasts thinly. Thinly slice the cabbage, julienne the carrot, and thinly slice the bell pepper for an even cook and great texture.
- Cook Chicken: Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the chicken slices and cook until browned and fully cooked through, about 5-7 minutes. Remove chicken and set aside.
- Sauté Vegetables: In the same skillet, add the minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, roughly 30 seconds to 1 minute. Add the cabbage, carrot, and bell pepper, stir-frying until they become tender-crisp, about 4-5 minutes.
- Combine and Flavor: Return the cooked chicken to the skillet with the vegetables. Add soy sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil, and ground ginger. Stir thoroughly to combine all ingredients and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until heated through and flavors meld.
- Garnish and Serve: Remove from heat and garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds. Serve immediately for a fresh and crunchy stir fry dish.
Notes
- For extra heat, add sliced chili peppers or a dash of chili flakes during the vegetable sauté.
- Use low-sodium soy sauce to reduce salt content.
- Substitute chicken with tofu or shrimp for variation.
- Make sure to slice chicken thinly for quick and even cooking.
- This dish pairs well with steamed rice or noodles.
