Description

A refreshing and vibrant twist on the classic margarita, Cherry Margaritas combine the tartness of cherries with the zing of lime and the smoothness of tequila for a perfect summer cocktail.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups fresh or frozen cherries, pitted
  • 1/2 cup lime juice (about 4 limes)
  • 1/4 cup orange liqueur (such as Triple Sec or Cointreau)
  • 1/2 cup silver tequila
  • 23 tablespoons agave syrup or simple syrup (to taste)
  • 1 cup ice (plus more for serving)
  • Coarse salt or sugar, for rimming glasses
  • Fresh cherries and lime wedges, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Rim the edges of your glasses with lime juice and dip into coarse salt or sugar. Set aside.
  2. In a blender, combine the cherries, lime juice, orange liqueur, tequila, agave syrup, and ice. Blend until smooth.
  3. Taste and adjust sweetness if needed by adding more syrup.
  4. Strain through a fine mesh sieve for a smoother texture, if desired.
  5. Fill prepared glasses with ice and pour the cherry margarita mixture over the ice.
  6. Garnish with fresh cherries and lime wedges before serving.

Notes

  • Frozen cherries can be used without thawing for a frostier drink.
  • Adjust sweetness based on the ripeness of the cherries used.
  • For a spicier kick, add a few slices of jalapeño before blending.
