Ingredients
Scale
Potatoes and Seasoning
- 1 ½ lbs russet potatoes, cut into thick wedges
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp paprika
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
Steak
- ¾ lb flank or sirloin steak, thinly sliced
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ tsp pepper
- ½ tsp onion powder
Toppings
- 1 ½ cups shredded cheddar cheese (or cheese blend)
- ¼ cup sour cream
- 2 green onions, chopped
- Optional: pickled jalapeños, chopped tomatoes, hot sauce
Instructions
- Prepare and Bake Fries: Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Toss the potato wedges with olive oil, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper until evenly coated. Arrange the wedges in a single layer on a baking sheet. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the fries are golden brown and crispy.
- Cook the Steak: While the fries bake, heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Season the thinly sliced steak with Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, and onion powder. Sear the steak slices for 2 to 3 minutes on each side until browned and cooked to your preferred doneness. Remove from heat and set aside.
- Assemble and Melt Cheese: Once the fries are cooked, transfer them to an oven-safe dish or cast iron skillet. Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the fries, then top with the cooked steak strips. Return the dish to the oven for 5 minutes or until the cheese melts and becomes bubbly.
- Garnish and Serve: Remove from the oven and garnish with sour cream, chopped green onions, and your choice of optional toppings like pickled jalapeños, chopped tomatoes, or hot sauce. Serve immediately while hot and enjoy.
Notes
- Use frozen steak fries as a convenient shortcut.
- Swap the steak for grilled chicken or ground beef for a variation.
- For extra flavor, drizzle with queso sauce or add crispy bacon bits.
