Description

A delicious and savory bread stuffed with a cheesy spinach filling, perfect as an appetizer or side dish.


Ingredients

  • 1 large loaf of French bread or Italian bread
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 4 cups fresh spinach, chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Slice the bread in half lengthwise and hollow out the center, leaving a 1-inch shell.
  3. In a skillet over medium heat, heat olive oil and sauté garlic until fragrant.
  4. Add chopped spinach, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes. Cook until wilted, about 3-4 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  5. In a bowl, mix cream cheese, sour cream, mozzarella, Parmesan, and onion powder.
  6. Add the cooked spinach mixture to the cheese mixture and stir to combine.
  7. Stuff the hollowed-out bread halves with the spinach-cheese filling.
  8. Place the stuffed bread on a baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes, until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  9. Remove from oven, cool slightly, then slice and serve.

Notes

  • You can substitute frozen spinach (thawed and drained) if fresh is unavailable.
  • Add chopped artichokes for an extra flavor twist.
  • For extra crispiness, broil the bread for the last 2-3 minutes of baking.
