Description

Cheeseburger pockets offer a handheld, fun twist on the classic cheeseburger by encasing seasoned ground beef, melted cheddar cheese, and your favorite burger toppings inside golden, flaky dough. Perfect for family dinners, lunchboxes, or game day snacks, these pockets are easy to prepare and bake to crispy perfection.

Ingredients

Scale

Beef Filling

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • Optional fillings: chopped pickles, cooked bacon bits, diced onions

Dough and Topping

  • 1 can (16 oz) refrigerated biscuit dough or pizza dough
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking and facilitate easy cleanup.
  2. Cook Ground Beef: In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned and fully cooked, about 6–8 minutes. Make sure to break up the meat as it cooks for even browning.
  3. Season Meat: Drain excess grease from the skillet. Stir in salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, ketchup, yellow mustard, and Worcestershire sauce. Cook for an additional minute to blend flavors, then remove from heat and allow to cool slightly.
  4. Add Cheese and Optional Fillings: Mix the shredded cheddar cheese along with any desired optional fillings such as chopped pickles, cooked bacon bits, or diced onions into the beef mixture.
  5. Prepare Dough: Roll out each piece of refrigerated biscuit or pizza dough into approximately 5-inch circles on a clean surface.
  6. Assemble Pockets: Spoon 2–3 tablespoons of the beef and cheese mixture into the center of each dough circle. Fold the dough over to create a pocket shape, sealing the edges by pressing them firmly with a fork.
  7. Apply Egg Wash: Place the pockets onto the prepared baking sheet and brush the tops with the beaten egg to give them a golden, glossy finish when baked.
  8. Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 15–18 minutes, or until the dough is golden brown and cooked through.
  9. Cool and Serve: Allow the cheeseburger pockets to cool for a few minutes before serving to avoid burns and to let flavors set.

Notes

  • These cheeseburger pockets can be made ahead of time and reheated in the oven or air fryer for convenience.
  • Using pizza dough results in larger pockets, while crescent roll dough offers a flakier texture.
  • Add your favorite burger toppings inside the pockets or serve them on the side as dips for extra flavor.
