Description

Carne Asada Tacos are a flavorful Mexican dish made with grilled marinated beef, typically served in soft corn tortillas, topped with fresh salsa, cilantro, and onions.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1.5 lbs flank steak or skirt steak
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup fresh lime juice
  • 1/4 cup orange juice
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup chopped cilantro
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp ground black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 12 small corn tortillas
  • Fresh salsa (optional)
  • Chopped onions (optional)
  • Chopped cilantro (optional)
  • Lime wedges (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine olive oil, garlic, lime juice, orange juice, soy sauce, cilantro, cumin, chili powder, paprika, black pepper, and salt.
  2. Place the steak in a resealable bag or shallow dish and pour the marinade over the meat. Seal and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, preferably overnight.
  3. Preheat the grill or a cast iron skillet over medium-high heat.
  4. Grill the steak for about 4-5 minutes per side for medium-rare, or longer for desired doneness.
  5. Remove the steak from the grill and let it rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing it thinly against the grain.
  6. Warm the corn tortillas on the grill or in a skillet.
  7. Assemble the tacos by placing a few slices of carne asada on each tortilla. Top with fresh salsa, chopped onions, and cilantro if desired.
  8. Serve with lime wedges on the side for added flavor.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, you can add a spicy salsa or guacamole as toppings.
  • If you prefer, you can use a different cut of beef, like ribeye, but flank or skirt steak is traditional for carne asada tacos.
  • If you don’t have a grill, you can cook the steak in a skillet on the stovetop.
