Caramelized Onions:

  • 2 large yellow onions (finely chopped)
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon sugar

Dip Base:

  • 1 1/2 cups sour cream
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Garnish:

  • Chopped fresh chives

Instructions

  1. Caramelize Onions: Heat butter and olive oil in a skillet. Add onions, salt, and sugar. Cook for 30–40 minutes until golden brown. Let cool.
  2. Prepare Dip Base: In a bowl, mix sour cream, mayonnaise, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper. Stir in cooled onions.
  3. Chill and Serve: Refrigerate dip for at least 1 hour. Garnish with chives before serving.
