Caramelized Onions:
- 2 large yellow onions (finely chopped)
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon sugar
Dip Base:
- 1 1/2 cups sour cream
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Garnish:
- Chopped fresh chives
Instructions
- Caramelize Onions: Heat butter and olive oil in a skillet. Add onions, salt, and sugar. Cook for 30–40 minutes until golden brown. Let cool.
- Prepare Dip Base: In a bowl, mix sour cream, mayonnaise, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper. Stir in cooled onions.
- Chill and Serve: Refrigerate dip for at least 1 hour. Garnish with chives before serving.
