Description

A refreshing Italian salad made with ripe tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, and basil, drizzled with a sweet balsamic glaze.


Ingredients

  • 3 large ripe tomatoes, sliced
  • 1 lb fresh mozzarella cheese, sliced
  • 1/2 cup fresh basil leaves
  • 2 tbsp extra-virgin olive oil
  • 1/4 cup balsamic glaze
  • Salt to taste
  • Freshly ground black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Arrange the tomato and mozzarella slices on a serving platter, alternating and overlapping them.
  2. Tuck whole basil leaves in between the tomato and mozzarella slices.
  3. Drizzle the olive oil evenly over the salad.
  4. Season with salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste.
  5. Drizzle the balsamic glaze over the top of the salad just before serving.

Notes

  • Use heirloom tomatoes for a more colorful presentation.
  • Chill ingredients slightly before serving for extra freshness.
  • Balsamic glaze can be homemade by reducing balsamic vinegar over low heat until thickened.
