Ingredients
Scale
Pizza Base
- 1 ball (about 12 oz) pizza dough
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- Cornmeal or flour (for dusting)
Ricotta Mixture
- 1 cup ricotta cheese
- 1 teaspoon lemon zest
- 1 tablespoon honey (plus more for drizzling)
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- Freshly ground black pepper (to taste)
Toppings
- 1 1/2 cups fresh blackberries
- 1/4 cup thinly sliced fresh basil
- 1/4 cup crumbled goat cheese or feta (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C) and place a pizza stone or baking sheet inside to heat thoroughly, which ensures a crispy crust.
- Prepare Dough: On a floured surface or parchment paper, roll out the pizza dough into a 10–12 inch circle. Lightly brush the dough with olive oil to help it brown beautifully during baking.
- Mix Ricotta Topping: In a small bowl, combine ricotta cheese, lemon zest, honey, salt, and a pinch of freshly ground black pepper. Stir until the mixture is smooth and well blended.
- Assemble Pizza: Spread the ricotta mixture evenly over the prepared dough, leaving a small border around the edges. Scatter fresh blackberries evenly on top and gently press them into the ricotta layer. If using, sprinkle the crumbled goat cheese or feta over the berries.
- Bake: Carefully transfer the pizza onto the preheated stone or baking sheet. Bake for 10–12 minutes, or until the crust turns golden and the ricotta topping is slightly puffed and warmed through.
- Finish and Serve: Remove the pizza from the oven and immediately top with fresh basil leaves and a drizzle of honey. Slice into portions and serve warm for best flavor and texture.
Notes
- For extra flavor, add a balsamic glaze drizzle just before serving.
- You can grill the pizza instead of baking it for a smoky finish.
