Description

Soft, fluffy, and perfectly sweet, these homemade cinnamon rolls are packed with cinnamon-sugar goodness and topped with a rich cream cheese frosting.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/3 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 tbsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened (for filling)
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened (for frosting)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, dissolve yeast in warm milk and let it sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
  2. Add sugar, melted butter, salt, and eggs. Mix well.
  3. Gradually add flour and knead until a soft dough forms. Cover and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  4. Roll out the dough into a rectangle about 16×12 inches.
  5. Spread softened butter over the dough, then sprinkle brown sugar and cinnamon evenly on top.
  6. Roll up the dough tightly and cut into 12 even rolls.
  7. Place the rolls in a greased 9×13 inch baking dish. Cover and let rise again for 30 minutes.
  8. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake rolls for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
  9. While rolls bake, make frosting by beating cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla until smooth.
  10. Spread frosting over warm rolls before serving.

Notes

  • For extra gooey rolls, pour a little heavy cream over the rolls before baking.
  • Make the dough the night before and let it rise in the fridge overnight.
  • Use room temperature ingredients for best results.
