Description

Beef Lo Mein is a savory Chinese-American noodle dish made with tender slices of beef, vegetables, and egg noodles tossed in a flavorful soy-based sauce.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 8 oz lo mein noodles
  • 1 lb flank steak, thinly sliced
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tbsp hoisin sauce
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tsp fresh ginger, grated
  • 1 cup broccoli florets
  • 1/2 cup sliced carrots
  • 1/2 cup bell pepper, sliced
  • 1/2 cup snow peas
  • 2 green onions, chopped

Instructions

  1. Cook the lo mein noodles according to the package instructions, then drain and set aside.
  2. In a bowl, combine sliced beef with 1 tbsp soy sauce, 1 tsp sesame oil, and cornstarch. Let marinate for 10-15 minutes.
  3. In a small bowl, mix the remaining soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, and remaining sesame oil to make the sauce. Set aside.
  4. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over high heat. Add beef and cook until browned. Remove and set aside.
  5. In the same skillet, add garlic and ginger, then the vegetables. Stir-fry for 3-4 minutes until just tender.
  6. Return beef to the skillet, add cooked noodles and pour in the sauce. Toss everything together until well combined and heated through.
  7. Garnish with green onions and serve hot.

Notes

  • You can substitute beef with chicken, shrimp, or tofu.
  • Use fresh noodles for best texture, but dried ones work too.
  • Add chili sauce for a spicy kick.
