- 1 lb ground beef (80/20)
- 4 slices bacon
- 4 hamburger buns
- 4 slices cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup barbecue sauce
- 1/2 red onion, sliced
- 4 lettuce leaves
- 1 tomato, sliced
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 tbsp olive oil (for grilling)
Instructions
- Preheat grill or skillet over medium-high heat.
- Form the ground beef into 4 equal patties. Season both sides with salt and pepper.
- Cook the bacon in a skillet until crispy. Set aside on paper towels to drain.
- Grill the burger patties for 4-5 minutes per side, or until desired doneness.
- In the last minute of grilling, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty to melt.
- Toast the hamburger buns lightly on the grill or skillet.
- Assemble the burgers: Spread barbecue sauce on the bottom bun, add lettuce, a beef patty with melted cheese, bacon, onion slices, and tomato. Top with the other half of the bun.
- Serve hot with extra barbecue sauce if desired.
Notes
- Use smoked cheddar or pepper jack for extra flavor.
- For a spicier kick, add jalapeños or spicy BBQ sauce.
- Can be made with turkey or plant-based patties for dietary preferences.
