Salad Base
- 1 (3.4 ounce) box instant banana pudding
- 1 (20 ounce) can crushed pineapple (do not drain)
- 1 (8 ounce) container Cool Whip
Add-ins
- 1 cup mini marshmallows
- 1/2 cup finely chopped walnuts, plus more for garnish
- 1/2 cup mini chocolate chips
- 2 ripe bananas, sliced
- 1 (10 ounce) jar maraschino cherries, halved
Instructions
- Mix the pudding and pineapple: In a large bowl, combine the instant banana pudding mix with the crushed pineapple (including the juice) and stir until the mixture thickens.
- Fold in Cool Whip: Gently fold the Cold Whip into the pudding and pineapple mixture until well combined, maintaining a light and fluffy texture.
- Add mix-ins: Stir in the mini marshmallows, finely chopped walnuts, mini chocolate chips, sliced bananas, and halved maraschino cherries evenly throughout the salad.
- Chill before serving: Refrigerate the salad for at least one hour to allow flavors to meld and the salad to set. Garnish with additional chopped walnuts before serving if desired.
Notes
- Use ripe bananas for the best flavor and sweetness.
- Do not drain the crushed pineapple to keep the salad moist and flavorful.
- This salad is best served chilled and should be stored in the refrigerator.
- Walnuts can be substituted with pecans for a different nutty flavor.
- If you prefer, cool whip can be replaced with whipped cream for a fresher taste.
- For a nut-free version, simply omit the walnuts.
