- 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs, beaten
- 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- Cooking spray
- Tonkatsu sauce, for serving
Instructions
- Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C).
- Slice chicken breasts in half horizontally to create 4 thinner cutlets. Pound to even thickness if needed.
- Season chicken with salt and pepper.
- Dredge each cutlet in flour, then dip in beaten eggs, then coat with panko breadcrumbs, pressing gently to adhere.
- Spray both sides of the breaded chicken with cooking spray.
- Place chicken in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Cook in batches if necessary.
- Air fry for 10-12 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
- Serve hot with tonkatsu sauce.
Notes
- For extra crispiness, lightly toast the panko breadcrumbs before coating.
- Do not overcrowd the air fryer basket to ensure even cooking.
- Pairs well with shredded cabbage and steamed rice.
