- 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal
- 1 (10 oz) bag mini marshmallows
- 3 tbsp unsalted butter
- Red food coloring
- Blue food coloring
- Sprinkles (red, white, and blue)
- Non-stick cooking spray or butter for pan
Instructions
- Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with non-stick spray or butter.
- In a large saucepan over low heat, melt the butter.
- Add the mini marshmallows and stir constantly until fully melted and smooth.
- Divide the melted marshmallow mixture evenly into three bowls.
- Add red food coloring to one bowl and blue food coloring to another. Leave the third bowl plain (white).
- Quickly stir 2 cups of Rice Krispies cereal into each bowl until well combined.
- Press the red mixture evenly into the bottom of the prepared dish using a spatula or greased hands.
- Add the white layer next, pressing it down evenly over the red layer.
- Finish with the blue layer, pressing it down firmly.
- Add red, white, and blue sprinkles on top while still warm.
- Let the treats cool completely before cutting into squares and serving.
Notes
- Use gel food coloring for more vibrant colors.
- Work quickly when layering to ensure the colors stick together.
- Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
